In my early days of hydroponics; I looked at General Hydroponics like a grand soldier off into battle into the unkown world of liquid water gardens, in many ways that is what they were. Recently, with help form the recent competition in the soiless gardening nutrient busienss, General is showing it-self to be good at general growing, nothing specific. Cannabis specific nutrient products are springing up like garden weeds. Which ones are the best? Watch here for new, independent research rating some of todays top brand-name products like General, Humboldt, Advanced and Dynagrow - as well as - some lesser known brand names including true 'organic' aquaponic systems. A big Colorado Head Nod to the worldwide audience out there! Keep on keeping on and we here at H.A.S.H look forward to providing you the best information!

Hydroponics, the use of soil-less, water based systems to provide for plant growth. This culture type takes on many forms and physical differences. Aquaponics is one form of hydroponics that uses the waste of aquatic organisms (ie. fish and shrimp) to provide for the nutirent requirements for plant growth. Decades of aquaponics research is now continuing here at HASH with some of the best strategies to attain stable, long-term sustainablity. So, if fertilizer prices and impacts have got you down, go blue/green - go 'aqua'

Regarding the commenter that brought this subject up - Great Job. #! Fact. (formally #1 but above even that) - If your not pissed off, your not paying attention. If you are new to the subject of Cannabis, this is a good starting point. As a matter of fact most everyone is at this same starting point because, as it turns out, we've all been lied to for a very long time. (Surprise! ;)) Every study, every research grant, anything the public has been exposed to about Cannabis within the past 70 years or so is tainted with a "Reefer Madness". Still palatable today in media coverage from the local rag newsprint to the "lamestream" and off into the internet (even today, Yahoo! censors (among many other things) the word "Cannabis" from their comment forums. This ubiquitous demonization of benefical Cannabis makes experienced consumers intrigued about the legal rational. As shown in the polls, ballot boxes and uncensored comment sections of any Cannabis related issue, the People Have Spoken - Loudly, I must add. Continued demonization by major press and politicians shows a disconnect from their customer base. Careful attention to positions best be addressed by these organizations soon before the public begins to demand the funds for the DEA be put into internal investigations of government and major media. #1 Fact - Cannabis is non-toxic. There is no scientific LD-50 for Cannabis, There have been no recored medical deaths directly due to cannabis ingestion - Ever. A discussion here about this basic known medical and scientific fact is rather moot. Suffice to say, prove me wrong. #1 Myth - Cannabis is a harmless plant. Keep in mind people, just because it can't kill you doesn't mean it is inert. Younglings - stay away for now, most recent studies are showing important findings regarding early development of the brain and body. Absolutely Psychoactive, a person not in the proper mental state could have a "bad" experience. The "painful" self-recognition described in the book Understanding Marijuana partially explains the severe distaste by some users (and politicians). Although mind opening and wonderful to some people, the substances in this plant have different effects upon different people and most important - children should be educated about the developmental issues of brain and body. #2 Fact - Cannabis is the most useful plant known to man. From industry to medicine, the value of Cannabis has long been known. #2 Myth Cannabis is illegal The United States never had a Constitutional Amendment declaring Cannabis a prohibited substance as required (only an Act) such as alcohol was. Many states allow for the possession and use of Cannabis for medical reasons and the states of Colorado and Washington have declared Cannabis legal for anyone over the age of 21. There is some good, some bad - for some ugly look up the incarceration of Daniel Chong Fact: the number one cause of death related to cannabis is incarceration.

A common question brought to me is; what is the most important piece of equipment for a good Cannabis grow? The answer to this is; shades. I can only say, the best set-up with all the highest quality equipment, the one item that should be remembered is: shades. You know, sunglasses for your eyes. Perhaps it is my age, or my protective nature but eyesight is a most precious thing. Be on gaurd when working with High Intensity Discharge (HID) lights such as the High Presssure Sodium (HPS) and Metal Halide (MH) also known as mercury vapor bulbs. These in particular are intense in their radiation spectrum and your eyes will feel it if you do not protect them. Less critical are the LED's with their lower intesity and output. The single wavelength emmision of each LED does not create the full spectrum given by a standard bulb and the lower intensity is evident. However, eye protection from these lights is still a good idea. Fluorescent lighting emits radiation in a full spectrum. The intensity is less than that of the HID's but greater than the LED's. Eye protection is a good idea and your eyes will thank you for it later in life. As for the Plasma and Magnetic induction lighting systems. Eye protection is a must. The intensity and spectral quality of these lights best mimmics the sun, so sunglasses are an excellent idea. For a reality check, check out the Lions Club International, an amazing group dedicated to world eyesight. Hope this gets out to everyone... Peace Professor DJ

Setting veg plants to flower in early April, can give you bud's by mid-May. Sticky, sticky buds of beautiful Cannabis. A new C. indica/ C. sativa hybrid lovingly called International Space Station gives large, dank buds and a smooth heady taste. Both a head cheese and a body high at the same time, this new strain is one for the record books.
